If asked to name a health benefit of chocolate, most people would say stress relief and stop there. But a good organic cocoa powder can actually provide several other boosts to your system.
Cocoa contains polyphenols which play an important role in gut health along with other body systems. The flavanols in cocoa act as prebiotics (in addition to the Sunfiber prebiotic already in Gut Power), fueling beneficial bacteria in the gut.
When metabolized by your gut bacteria, flavanols turn into important antioxidants in the body, which may provide many health benefits!

Storing Gut Power Cocoa in a cool, dry place will keep your cocoa fresher for longer.
If you're new to prebiotics & probiotics, we recommend starting with half a serving (½ scoop of Gut Power Cocoa + ~5-6oz of water) for a few days as your microbiome adjusts.

If your gut is not used to taking prebiotics of any kind, it's a good idea to start with a 1/2 serving of Gut Power™ for a few days before going to the full dose. This is because even though Sunfiber® (our prebiotic) is the best-tolerated prebiotic on the market, there is still a slight chance that you might experience a little bit of bloating or gas if you go straight to taking a full dose.
To make sure your experience with Gut Power™ is fantastic, we recommend taking a half dose for a couple days and then bumping up to the full serving!

We created Gut Power™ so that each serving contains exactly what you need to get the benefits of both prebiotics and probiotics.
But if you’re loving your daily Gut Power™ and you’d like to consume more, research shows that our prebiotic, Sunfiber®, is tolerated well when consuming up to 20 grams per day. Each serving of Gut Power™ contains 6 grams of Sunfiber®, so you can consume up to 3 servings daily.
That said, if this is something you’re interested in doing, we recommend taking it very slowly! Start with ½ serving as recommended, then 1 serving daily. After a few days of 1 serving daily, you can try another serving, and so on.
Basically, you just want to make sure you’re giving your gut bacteria a chance to get used to each increased dose!
Not necessarily! Probiotic benefits are strain-specific. This means that different strains of probiotics are useful for different purposes and are needed in different amounts to provide particular benefits. You can learn more about the strain-specific effects of probiotics here.

When you start taking prebiotics and probiotics like Gut Power Drinks, your gut microbiome goes through a transition period while the bacteria there get used to incoming “food” and good bacteria friends.
This can sometimes lead to a tiny bit of digestive discomfort, which should be short-lasting (a couple days). You can also start with half a scoop at first to reduce the risk of this happening.
Many of our customers start to notice improvements in their digestion (bowel regularity, bloating, abdominal pain, etc) within the first two weeks of taking Gut Power. However, this will always differ from person to person!

Nope! Probiotic characteristics are strain-specific, and we chose our particular strain both because of its exceptional health benefits and its ability to survive in hot water. We wanted you to be able to choose whether you wanted your Gut Power™ Drinks hot or cold, after all!
So no fear putting Gut Power™ Drinks into hot water -- you’ll still get your probiotics!
Nope! The probiotics in Gut Power™ survive just fine at room temperature, so there's no need to refrigerate.
That said, the matcha in Gut Power™ Cocoa will start to lose flavor and color the longer it’s left exposed to heat or air. Because of this, you may want to store your pouch of matcha in the fridge if you're not consuming it daily to lengthen its shelf-life.
Whichever you choose, you’re bound to have a great cup!
You can take Gut Power any time of day, but keep in mind that Gut Power Matcha contains ~50mg of caffeine (half the amount of a cup of coffee). This is a great option for a morning boost of energy!
If you’re looking for something to take in the evening, we’d recommend Gut Power Cocoa. Our Cocoa flavor contains a tiny amount of caffeine (8mg) that, unless you’re especially sensitive to caffeine, should not be a problem before bed.

While Gut Power Cocoa will mix into cold water, you’ll have a much easier time incorporating it into room temperature water.
